I watched a couple of seasons of the admittedly forgettable Raising Hope on Netflix. I started singing the theme song when I got in the car with the kids, “Here we go…oh, oh, oh…” Ella would always sing it after me. It become “our thing.” Jack always seemed annoyed by it. Last month, Ella suddenly stopped doing the routine with me. I sang it again yesterday morning in the car on our way to pre-school. Ella remained silent for a few moments, then piped up from the back seat, “That’s boring Dad.”
