Hyperlocal: Canada Writes
In the spring of 2013, I was one of 12 writers from across Canada who told neighbourhood stories on Hyperlocal, a month-long feature that was published as part of the Canada Writes site on cbc.ca.
At the beginning of the series, Canada Writes published a Q & A on my views and experiences of my neighbourhoods.
Blog One: Losing one hub and gaining another. A church on Germain Street is converted to a performing arts centre for children and youth.
Blog Two: The ‘jelly bean’ buildings and other restoration projects. The South End’s future lies in the successful restoration of its grand heritage homes and public buildings.
Blog Three: Land of Dreams. South End residents battle Big Industry for access to waterfront.
Blog Four: Painting the hood. Artist Sarah Jones did a painting a day for 100 days of a scene in the South End, including one of my street, Pagan Place.
Blog Five: Growing a garden. A video blog from cleanup day at the South End Community Garden in Rainbow Park.
