You might appreciate this exchange between Jack and I if you’ve seen the kids’ Christmas show, “The Year Without a Santa Claus.” We were walking up Germain Street, kicking loose chunks of snow and ice and enjoying the afternoon sunshine.
“Daddy, Snowmeister ruled this winter, didn’t he?”
“Yes, Jack, he did.”
“Heatmeister never really had a chance, did he?”
“No, Jack, he didn’t. But it looks like he’s coming back.”
“He’s going to get his revenge, isn’t he Daddy?”
“Yes, Jack, I think you’re right.”
My conversations with Jack are really starting to resemble “Calvin and Hobbs” comic strips, or conversations between Winnie the Pooh characters.
